Award-Winning Daylilies
Every year, members of the American Daylily Society (the national daylily club, also known as the AHS) vote on the plants that have done best in real gardens across the country. These aren't beauty contests judged off one perfect bloom. A plant has to grow well, bloom well and keep doing it year after year in lots of different places before it gets noticed.
The top honor is the Stout Silver Medal. Only one daylily wins it each year, and a plant has to have already earned the society's earlier awards to even be in the running. We grow 13 Stout winners that are in stock right now, including Stella de Oro (1985), the little golden rebloomer you've seen in parking lots everywhere because it simply won't quit. Others include Becky Lynn (1987), Janice Brown (1994), All American Chief (2008), Carnival in Mexico (2012), Heavenly Angel Ice (2013) and Webster's Pink Wonder (2014).
Beyond the Stout, the society gives awards for specific strengths: the Lenington All-American for plants that thrive across many regions, the Donn Fischer Memorial Cup for miniatures, the Ida Munson Award for doubles, and others. All told, we have 48 award winners in stock. Each plant page lists the awards it has earned, so you know exactly what you're getting.
Getting them home: Every plant here is grown at our nursery in Vale, North Carolina. Pick yours up free in a full 3-gallon grow bag, or have it shipped bare-root, with the shipping cost shown in your cart. Award winners earned their medals in gardens all over the country, but check foliage type on each page if your winters are very cold or very mild.

FAQ
What is the Stout Silver Medal?
It's the highest honor a daylily can win from the American Daylily Society. Only one plant wins each year, voted on by members who've grown it in their own gardens.
Do award winners grow better than other daylilies?
Not always, but they've proven themselves in gardens across many regions over several years. That makes them a safe bet if you're new to daylilies or want plants you can count on.
How do I know which awards a plant has won?
Each product page lists its verified awards and the year it won them, taken from the American Daylily Society's official records.
Hillside Notes
All American Chief is a daylily with red self with yellow throat, making it a useful choice for gardeners comparing color, season, and garden effect. We list it with 32 in scapes, 9 in blooms, early-to-midseason, tetraploid, dormant so gardeners can compare it quickly with other varieties in the field. Notable traits include rebloom potential.
